Is Battlefield 5 Open Beta Down?

The latest announcement from Stockholm-based Embark Studios has generated a lot of buzz in the gaming community. The developer, co-founded by Patrick Söderlund, former CEO of DICE, and Rob Runnesson, DICE's former chief creative officer, is set to launch its highly-anticipated game, The Finals, into open beta on October 26th.

For console players, this will be their first opportunity to get hands-on with the game. The open beta will include a new map called Skyway Stadium, an ever-changing and treacherous playground, as well as a new game mode called Bank-It. In Bank-It, four teams of three battle for riches in a casual-friendly, combat-focused mode.

The winning team is the one that reaches the max limit first or has the most cash banked at the end of the round. The open beta will also include a free battle pass, with 16 exclusive unlockable rewards that beta players will keep for the game's launch.

For PC players who took part in previous beta tests, there's still plenty to look forward to. Embark Studios will be using this opportunity to get feedback on the console and gamepad experience, as well as stress test its servers.

The Finals is a squad-based, free-to-play shooter inspired by sci-fi bloodsport narratives like Squid Game and The Running Man. It's set to be playable on PC and console starting October 26th, with the open beta going live for PlayStation 5, Windows PC (via Steam), and Xbox Series X.
